You’ve probably heard the word TOG floating around when it comes to baby sleepwear... but what does it actually mean?
Don’t worry — it’s a super common question for new parents.
Getting to know TOG ratings and choosing the right baby sleeping bag or swaddle makes it so much easier to dress your little one safely for sleep, whatever the weather.
TOG stands for ‘Thermal Overall Grade’ — it’s basically a fancy way of measuring how much warmth and insulation a fabric provides.
Put simply: lower TOG = lighter fabric for warmer weather, higher TOG = thicker, cosier fabric for cooler temps.
The trick is picking the right TOG to match the temperature of your baby’s sleep space — so they stay comfy, cosy, and safe all night long.

How do I know which tog my little one needs?
The ErgoPouch range is designed to make sleep simple, with TOG-Rated Pouch suited to your Room Temperature. They currently have four different TOG rating features within the range.
0.2 TOG Cool Pouches are perfect for temperatures over 22ºC
1 TOG Mild Pouches are perfect for temperatures between 20-24ºC
2.5 TOG Warm Pouches are perfect for temperatures between 15-21ºC
3.5 TOG Warmest Pouches are perfect for temperatures between 12-19ºC
What should your baby wear to bed?
Every ergoPouch Sleeping Bag and Swaddle comes with a What to Wear Guide — including a built-in thermometer strip. Just check the room temperature, match it to the guide, and you’ll know exactly which TOG-rated pouch (and what layers) to use.
It’s one less thing to worry about at bedtime

Please note that that is designed for use with ergoPouch products only. Keep a What to Wear guide wherever your baby sleeps. The dressing guide is intended as a guide only - please consider other factors such as illness, air-conditioning/heating and whether your baby tends to run hot or cold in general.
