What exactly is a TOG rating?

You made have heard of the term TOG when it comes to your babies sleepwear. But what does it actually mean?

ErgoPouch FAQ's

  • 0-3M: Start with our Cocoon Swaddle Bag (arms in or out) to provide a snug, secure feeling
  • 3-12M: Transition to a Sleeping Bag, which offers a similar slim-fit design and fabric as the Cocoon Swaddle.
  • 12-24M: Choose between a Sleeping Bag for a wider fit or a Sleep Suit Bag for active toddlers who move a lot during sleep. The Sleep Suit Bag is also versatile for use in a 5-point harness.
  • 2-3Y: Continue with your toddler's preferred pouch (either the Sleeping Bag or Sleep Suit Bag).
  • 3-4Y: Keep using the Sleep Suit Bag in 'legs' mode.

Our TOG-rated sleeping bags are designed to provide optimal warmth and insulation, keeping your child comfortable throughout the night without the need for loose bedding. They are intended as a safe alternative to blankets. For safe sleep, always ensure your child’s face and head remain uncovered, and avoid placing loose bedding, pillows, or toys in the cot.

ErgoPouch recommend having 3 to 4 sleeping bags: one in use, one or two in the wash/drying,  one for a different temperature range, plus one for when your baby outgrows their current size. This setup ensures you're always prepared, and your baby stays comfortable and safe.

ErgoPouch generally recommend selecting a sleeping bag based on your baby’s weight to ensure the best and safest fit, particularly around areas like the neck and upper body. A snug fit around the neck is essential to prevent the bag from sliding up over your baby’s face, which could restrict their airways. However, if your baby is longer than average, it's okay to size up, as long as you can comfortably fit two fingers inside the neck opening, ensuring the bag remains secure and safe.
